INDUSTRY EXCELLENCE


In the spirit of innovation, best practices and overall industry excellence, the NACS Foundation bestows three illustrious awards as determined by the Board of Directors.

Distinguished Service 
Award

This is the NACS Foundation’s highest honor and celebrates individual excellence. The award recognizes the devotion, service, and visionary leadership given to the Foundation.

Collegiate Retailer of the 
Year Award

This award recognizes the store with the highest level of innovative collegiate retailing excellence and honors a successful college store’s novel approach to becoming an indispensable resource for its campus.

Innovation Achievement 
Award 

The intent of this award is to both recognize innovation in the college store industry and to share new and creative ideas with others to strengthen the industry overall.

2019 Distinguished Service Award Recipient

Vicki Morris Benion
As executive director of the NACS Foundation, Benion led the highly successful “Building A Better Tomorrow” campaign, which raised over $1.3 million.Those funds sponsored NACS education programs at industry events. She also led a significant strategic planning process that will position the foundation as the leader in creating college store standards.

2017 Collegiate Retailer of the Year Award Winner 

CSU Bookstore, Colorado State University
Under the eye of Director John Parry, CCR, the store refocused efforts on delivering the products, services, support, and affordability needed by the CSU campus as well as the retail experience craved by students. Those efforts paid off at CAMEX 2017 when the store was recognized with the NACS Foundation’s Collegiate Retailer of the Year Award, a competitive honor that salutes overall collegiate retailing excellence.

2016 Innovation Achievement Award Recipient

UC Davis Stores
What started as a workaround solution actually became the lynchpin to a new program. The staff at UC Davis Stores came to the realization that by using innovation, imagination and creativity, they could provide digital course materials to students immediately upon enrollment. Through their “Inclusive Access” model, their store gained higher sell through numbers and negotiated lower prices with publishers. Along with lower margins on the store’s end, significant savings are passed down to students.
